Autonomous Control of Large-scale Water Treatment Plants (HYDROBIONETS)

Full project name: Autonomous Control of Large-scale Water Treatment Plants based on Self-Organized Wireless BioMEM Sensor and Actuator Networks (HYDROBIONETS)

Web site:

Funding: European Commission, FP7, ICT WorkProgramme, Objective: Cyber-Physical Systems

Principal Investigator: Prof. Baltasar Beferull-Lozano

Topic: Theory, Algorithms and Demonstration of Wireless BioMEM Networks (WBN) that perform distributed monitoring of bacteria biofilm in water desalination and treatment plants. Its main aim was to develop the world’s first real-time micro-biological wireless networked control system able to control bacterial activity, determine the optimal biocide injection and, therefore, improve the efficiency at water treatment and desalination plants.

Role: Coordination of Project. Leadership of WP In-network Distributed Intelligence for Wireless BioMEM sensor networks under communication constraints.

Principal Investigator: Prof. Baltasar Beferull-Lozano

Period: 2011-2014
